Connect WordPress.com

Publish your articles to a site hosted on WordPress.com.

This connection lets Gofylo publish articles to a site hosted on WordPress.com. For a WordPress site you host yourself, see Connect WordPress.

What you need

  • Your site identifier: your WordPress.com address, such as mysite.wordpress.com. If your site uses its own domain, use its numeric site ID instead.
  • An OAuth2 access token. WordPress.com sites connect with a token, not an application password.

In WordPress.com

  1. Go to developer.wordpress.com > My Apps.
  2. Create an OAuth2 access token for your site.

WordPress.com explains the steps in its OAuth2 guide.

In Gofylo

  1. Open Integrations and click Connect on the WordPress.com card. During setup, the WordPress.com card on the Integration step opens the same window.
  2. Fill in Site identifier and OAuth2 access token. No username is needed.
  3. Click Connect.

Gofylo saves these details without testing them, so your first publish shows whether they work. To change them later, click Configure on the WordPress.com card, change what you need and click Update credentials. Leave the token empty to keep the one already saved.

The WordPress card is for sites you host yourself, so it does not show your WordPress.com site as connected.

What gets published

An article goes out when you click Approve & Publish on it, or on its scheduled day when Auto-publish articles is on in Content Settings. The post goes live with its title, body and URL slug. The meta description becomes the excerpt, and the cover image is uploaded to your media library as the featured image.

Republish sends your latest edits to the same post. Deleting the article in Gofylo also deletes the post, skipping the trash.

If it doesn't work

Open the article and expand Advanced > Publish history to see the error.

  • "WordPress auth failed": the access token was refused. Create a new token. During setup, click WordPress.com again and enter it. After setup, write to support@gofylo.io.
  • "WordPress resource not found": check the site identifier. Use your WordPress.com address, or the numeric site ID for a site with its own domain.
  • "Missing credentials for wordpress.com": a field is empty. Enter both fields again during setup, or write to support@gofylo.io.

After a fix, click Approve & Publish on the article again.
