This connection lets Gofylo publish articles into a CMS collection on your Framer site.
What you need
- A Framer project with a CMS collection for your blog. Framer's Blog template has every field Gofylo fills.
- A CMS page for that collection, so each post has its own address on your site.
- Permission to edit the project's content.
In Framer
- Open the project in Framer and copy the address from your browser. It starts with framer.com/projects/.
- In the same project, open Site Settings, then General, and create a key under API Keys. Copy it.
The key acts as the person who made it. If that person leaves the project, make a new key.
In Gofylo
- Open Integrations and click Connect on the Framer card.
- Fill in Project link and API key.
- Leave Collection (optional) empty if your collection is called Blog, Blog Posts, Posts, Articles, News, Insights or Resources. Otherwise type its name.
- Click Check connection. It names the collection and the fields it fills, without changing anything.
- Click Connect.
To change the details later, click Configure on the card, change what you need and click Update credentials. Leave the API key empty to keep the one already saved: its box reads Saved. Leave blank to keep it.
What goes into each post
Gofylo fills each field your collection has, matched by its name:
- the title, in a field called Title, Name or Headline;
- the article, in a formatted text field called Content, Body, Post or Article;
- the cover image, in an image field called Image, Cover, Thumbnail or Featured Image;
- the description, in a field called Description, Excerpt or Summary;
- the date, in a date field called Date or Published;
- the author, in a field called Author.
A field your collection requires that Gofylo can't fill stops the connection. Check connection names it, so you can make it optional in Framer.
When a post goes live
- When nothing else is waiting to be published on your site, Gofylo publishes your site as soon as the post is added.
- When you have unpublished changes in Framer, your site uses staging, or it has never been published, the post is saved in your collection and the article reads Saved in Framer. It goes live the next time your site is published, and the article then reads Published. Gofylo never publishes your unfinished work.
Changing or removing a post
- Republish sends your latest text to the same post. A post you hid in Framer stays hidden.
- Deleting the article in Gofylo removes its post from your collection. It leaves your live site the next time your site is published, or at once when nothing else is waiting.
What Check connection tells you
- "That isn't a Framer project link": open the project in Framer and copy the address from your browser.
- "Framer refused the API key for this project": check the key was made in this project's Site Settings, or make a new one there.
- "Framer couldn't find this project": check the Project link.
- "has no collection called…": check the name under Collection (optional). The message lists your collections.
- "has more than one collection": type the one for your blog under Collection (optional).
- "is managed by a plugin": choose a collection you made in Framer. A collection a plugin manages takes posts only from that plugin.
- "has no text field for the title" or "no formatted text field for the article": add the field, or rename yours, as the message says.
- "requires … which we can't fill": make those fields optional in the collection's settings.
- "This API key can't add to the collection": make the key as someone who can edit the project's content.
It can also connect with a note:
- "The collection has no image field": posts go without their cover.
- "The collection has no CMS page yet": add a CMS page for the collection in Framer, so each post has an address.
- "Your site hasn't been published yet", "Your site uses staging" or "This API key can't publish the site": posts wait as Saved in Framer until you publish your site.
