Open AI visibility in the sidebar. It is marked Beta: it works on every site, and more is being added to it. It has three pages: Overview, Searches and Settings.
What we check
For each site, Gofylo keeps a list of topics your customers search for: 25, or 50 on larger plans. Each topic is asked on six engines, in your site's country and language:
- Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode;
- ChatGPT and Gemini;
- Claude and Perplexity, marked API: they are read through their APIs with web search on, so their answers are close to what their apps show, not identical. The other four are read the way a person sees them.
Each topic is asked two ways: as a Google search for AI Overviews, and as the question a buyer would ask for AI Mode and the assistants. Each topic is asked 3 times a week, and on Claude once a week.
Note
AI answers change from one ask to the next: the same question can name you on Monday and not on Wednesday. That is why each topic is asked several times and every answer counts, and why a single answer proves little.
Your numbers
The Overview opens with your market and a Period: Last 4 weeks or Last 12 weeks. Four numbers follow, each with how many answers it is counted out of and its change on the period before:
- Named in AI answers: how often answers name your business, weighted by how often each search is made. A search more people make counts for more, and no search counts for more than five times a typical one.
- Linked as a source: how often an answer links a page of your site. It is weighted the same way.
- Named first: how often an answer names you before any of your competitors. It is weighted the same way.
- Share of voice: your mentions among all mentions of you and your competitors, with your place among them.
A change is counted only on the searches asked the same way in both periods. When an engine changes how it answers, it is left out of the change, and the page says so.
Below them, Named in AI answers, week by week draws your trend against your most named rival, By engine shows each engine on its own, and You and your competitors compares the brands. The same summary appears on your main Overview, with Open AI visibility.
In the first two weeks the numbers wait for enough answers: the page says the day your first numbers arrive.
Searches that name your brand, such as reviews or pricing, are kept apart and never count in these numbers: an answer to a search with your name in it nearly always names you.
The searches we track
Searches lists every topic in your list: how it is asked, its topic group, where it Comes from, its Searches a month, each engine's last answers, its 4-week change and the Rivals named.
- A cell shows how many of the last 12 answers named you, 4 on Claude, and how many linked your site: 9/12 means named in 9 of the last 12 answers, and linked 5 means a page of your site was cited 5 times.
- A solid cell means named in half the answers or more; a grey 0/12 means asked, never named.
- 4-week change is the change in points on the 4 weeks before, or New for a topic that was not asked then.
Filter the list by where the topics come from:
- Your plan: keywords coming up on your content plan.
- Your articles: your published articles.
- You already show up: searches your site already ranks for, without your brand.
- Competitor gaps: searches your competitors rank for and your site does not, kept only when they fit your business.
- Customer questions: the questions you added.
The first 10 topics show, and the link below the list shows the rest. Click a topic to open it.
Gofylo chooses the list every 4 weeks and keeps it fixed in between, so the numbers compare. A search worded several ways is tracked once. Your Search Console data never decides what is in the list.
Add the questions your customers ask
Click Add a customer question on Searches, or open Settings under AI visibility. Everything there has a default, so nothing needs setting.
- Questions your customers ask: from sales calls, support chats or enquiries. Type one in Type a question your customers ask, choose its priority, and click Add. Each one is asked on every engine, word for word, and counts as one of your topics. Click Remove to stop tracking one.
- High is always tracked, from the next check day.
- Normal joins at the next 4-week list while there is room.
- Low joins only when a slot is left over.
- Questions people also ask: questions people also ask on Google about your topics. Click Add on the ones your customers ask, or Dismiss.
- Names AI might use for you: an answer that uses any of these names counts as naming you. Type a name in Add a name answers might use and click Add, or click × to remove one: each change saves at once. A name needs at least 4 letters, because shorter ones are never matched on their own. Remove them all to go back to the defaults, which come from your business name and website.
- Competitors: they come from your business settings, so there is one list for the whole product. Click Edit in Settings, Business to change them.
- Engines: the six engines, where and how often each is asked, and how each is read.
One search
Click a topic on Searches to open it. The top shows its searches a month, where it comes from, its topic group and how it is asked.
A card for each engine shows how many of its last answers named you, how many linked your site and how many named you first. Its last checks show as dots, oldest first: filled when the answer named you, open when it did not, and dashed when there was no answer to read.
Below the cards, each engine's latest answer shows its result, the day it was checked, the answer itself, and Pages it cited, marked Yours, Competitor or Other. In an answer, your names and your competitors' names are marked, and the note at the bottom shows which mark is which. Answers are kept for 35 days; after that their words are gone but their results still count.
What the states mean
- Named, Named and linked, Named first: the answer names you; first means before any competitor.
- Linked, not named: the answer links your site without naming you.
- Not named this time: the engine answered and did not name you.
- No AI answer shown: Google showed no AI answer for that search. It does not count as an answer.
- Not available in your country: that engine does not answer there yet.
- Could not check: the engine did not answer this time. It never counts as "not named".
- Not checked yet: the topic has not been asked yet.
If it doesn't work
